Zwift on AppleTV 4k w/IR Remote

tldr: Wondering if anyone has tried a third-party IR remote with an AppleTV running Zwift, and if it enabled connecting one more BT device directly to your Zwift-running platform?

Full post: Fairly new to Zwift, which I run on an AppleTV 4k. Learned early on about the 3 BlueTooth (BT) limit on the Apple TV. My understanding is the remote uses one BT connection, leaving two free for Zwift.

Have a WH Kickrcore w/Zwift One cog, Zwift Play, Zwift Click (I am lazy and like one-finger shifting while sitting up) and a HRM. My understanding is that the Kickrcore uses one BT connection, the controllers work together to use another one, and my HRM requires a third, which is more than the AppleTV has available. So I read the forums and started connecting BT using Zwift Companion on an Android phone. Works ok, with the occasional virtual connectivity “flat tire”, so very functional with room for improvement.

Not that I don’t like running Zwift Companion. I am trying to learn to be more social during my rides . . .

Today I stumbled on third-party replacement remotes for AppleTV, some of which use Infra-Red (IR) to connect to the Apple box. This could free up a BT connection on the AppleTV. (Would also give me options to move away from the sensitive touchpad on the current remote, which I find a bit, well, sensitive.). Wondering if anyone has tried this.
